House bill filings highest since 1987

Total up 15% from 2005

The 2078 bills and resolutions filed in the North Carolina House of Representatives in the 2007 long and extra sessions is the highest in the last 20 years, highest since 2166 were filed in 1987.  The record for the last 100 years was 2967 in 1913.  The 2007 total is 15% higher than the 2005 total of 1801 and 54% higher than the 1349 recorded in 2003. (The totals in this post are just for the odd-numbered long session years, although the General Assembly rarely met in the even-numbered year before 1974.)
